The Flat-tube heat exchanger
This is an all-aluminum heat exchanger that has a plate-fin with excellent drainage and a lightweight, highly efficient flat multi-channel tube attached mechanically through pipe expansion. The advantages of the plate-fin shape are used to enhance performance.

| New technology for connecting fins and tubing |
The conditions of the connection between the flat multi-channel tube and the fin have a great influence on performance, and until we developed new technologies this connection could not be made using the same pipe expander employed in conventional methods. Our newly developed technology allowed us to achieve this for the world’s first and as a result we received the Invention Performance Award at 31st Annual Inventors Awards in 2006. |

| Overview |
Machining process is used to expand the round tubing, which is attached to the plate fins.

|
The flat multi-channel tubes are expanded using pressure, and are then attached to the plate fins.

(1)The comparison was made using a model pattern with the same frontal area, air volume
and airflow resistance.
(2)The comparison of weight was made for the weight of fins and tubing at the core part,
and did not include attached components.
Example of application: External large package air conditioner
